CASPER, Wyo. — Local swimmers and families looking to cool off in the coming summer months won’t be able to do so at Marion Kreiner Pool, as Casper officials announced that the pool will remain closed through the summer season for renovations.

City Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities Director Zulima Lopez said much of the work will be focused on the building on the pool grounds.

“That building was constructed in the 1960s and has not been renovated since,” Lopez said. “It really needs a lot of TLC to be a place where people really want to go and spend their time.”

The pool itself will also see work, which will include replacing filtration and chlorination systems, boilers, a pool slide and pool lighting.

At Tuesday evening’s Casper City Council workshop, Councilor Pat Sweeney asked if there was a way to alert residents to the seasonal closure, and Lopez said city staff will find a way to spread the word. She noted that the north Casper pool is one of the localized pools in the city, and mainly sees traffic from people in close vicinity to the facility.

Lopez added that the splash pad at Marion Kreiner Pool will remain open through the summer. Work at the pool is expected to be completed well in advance of summer 2026.

Earlier this year, the Casper City Council contracted with GSG Architecture for the work.

Other city pools include Mike Sedar Park Pool, Paradise Valley Pool, Washington Pool and the Casper Family Aquatic Center.
