CASPER, Wyo. — Kelly Walsh High School’s Dylan Sorensen will continue his wrestling career beyond high school at Northwest Community College in Powell.

Sorensen signed his letter of intent during a ceremony at KWHS on Tuesday afternoon in front of his teammates, his family and media.

During his time at KWHS, he traveled to Japan for a competition, and earlier this year was Wyoming’s only All-American boy at the NHSCA in Virginia Beach.

During the ceremony, Sorensen gave credit to Northwest’s wrestling coach, Jim Zeigler, for repeatedly reaching out.

“He’d tell me ‘good job’ and ask me where I was going [after high school], and after practice he’d ask me what I did to get better,” Sorensen said. “He was in my corner the whole time, and it made a strong impact.”

“College kids are all faster and better, and they have the mat experience so they have a better feel for it than I do,” he said, adding that he hopes to grow as a person and athlete while there.

“My dad’s always been there, so now it’ll just be me and a couple of teammates,” he said. “Hopefully I come back with a National Championship as a college wrestler.”

He plans to pursue a business management degree, and possibly a sports management degree.
