CASPER, Wyo. — While Natrona County isn’t expected to receive much precipitation in the coming days, several communities in the western part of the state are likely to see large snowstorms. Forecasts for a number of western Wyoming cities and towns predict upwards of 2 feet of snow.

The National Weather Service reports that Old Faithful, Pahaska and Mammoth are among the communities expected to get the most snow, with each likely to see 15–25 inches of accumulation between today and Tuesday. Moran Junction, Jackson, Afton, South Pass City and Alpine could all see between roughly 10 and 18 inches of snowfall. Pinedale, Dubois and Powell could all receive roughly 5–10 inches of accumulation.

In many places, the heavy snowfall will be exacerbated by strong wind gusts reaching speeds of 60 mph or higher. This has prompted the NWS to issue winter storm watches and warnings for several communities.

Winter storm warnings and advisories are in effect for West Yellowstone, Jackson, Cody, Dubois, Afton, Pinedale, Big Piney, Kemmerer, Evanston and Rawlins.
