CASPER, Wyo. — The Dick Cheney Federal Building in downtown Casper is currently safe from being offloaded by the U.S. General Services Administration, or GSA.

According to an updated list , only eight federal buildings in the country are now being offered for sale, none of which are located in Wyoming. That’s down significantly from an earlier list that contained 320 buildings. The Cheney building was the only Wyoming facility on that earlier list.

That list was removed without warning shortly after the New York Times .

The updated list includes properties in Maryland, New Jersey, Illinois, Missouri, Texas, Georgia and Tennessee. , the GSA said it is still planning on putting other properties out for bid in the future, but at a more deliberate pace. The buildings currently listed were already in the process of being offloaded before the Trump administration’s wide-ranging and deep cuts in nearly every aspect of the federal government, according to the WSJ.

Wyoming Sen. John Barrasso’s office said it was aware of the Dick Cheney Building’s previous listing. The building is home to Casper offices for Barrasso and Rep. Harriet Hageman.

“The list was recently removed from the agency’s website,” Barrasso’s press secretary Gaby Marks said in an email to ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. “Our office has reached out to GSA for additional information and we will continue working with the Administration as they look to cut wasteful Washington spending.â€

Casper’s Dick Cheney Federal Building, located at 100 East B St., contains 116,799 square feet of space over four stories and provides office space for some 20 federal agencies,. Its east wing houses the U.S. Postal Service.

Among the federal and state agencies using the building are the IRS, the USDA, the Department of Justice, the Wyoming State Office for the Natural Resources Conservation Service and the Small Business Administration. It also serves as Casper’s ICE and immigration services location.

The building opened in 1970 and was renamed for Dick Cheney in 1998. It’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
